Admission (For International Students)

How to Apply

International Students who wish to enroll at True North Institute International are requested to follow the following admission process: (If you need details or further information please contact the Admission office at True North Institute International or Local Agent in your country.)

Step 1: Select your Program
Select the program and length of the program that you want to be.

Step  2: Complete the international Student Application
Download and complete the International Student Application Form. You may find the International Student Application form here:

Applications can be submitted at any time of the year as they are processed throughout the year. However we advise you to apply well in advance since there could be delays for getting a Canadian Study Permit.

Step 3: Send the Application with Supporting Document
Send your completed International Student Application Form with all supporting documentation and the required application fee to the Admissions Office. You may fax or email your completed application form and other supporting documents.
Supporting documentation includes:

  • All updated academic Transcripts of previous schools you have attended

  • A copy of passport

  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL or any other internationally recognized English test)

  • You current resume (If you have any employment experience)


Step 4: Receive the Admission Package
We will send you a confirmation of the receipt of your application. Based on your academic qualification and English Language Proficiency, we will evaluate your application. If your application is successful, we will send you the admission package including the following:

  • Details of the program that you have been admitted, the starting date of the program. If there any conditions to be fulfilled before the enrollment, we will indicate them.

  • An invoice for tuition fees and other charges.

  • Student services information, including health insurance, accommodation, airport pickup, etc.

  • Information on applying for the necessary Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit.


Step 5: Pay your fees and get the Official Letter of Admission
Your offer letter of admission to the program will be issued once you pay the tuition fees and other charges due in full. This will include the registration fee and tuition fee, usually for the first academic year. Payment of the amount due should be made in either US dollars or Canadian dollars to True North Institute International. Payment can be made either by bank draft, money order or T/T wire transfer. After receipt of your tuition fees we will send you the official Letter of Admission and a tuition fee receipt. These will be needed to apply for the Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit at the Canadian High Commission in your home country. (If a study permit has been declined by the Canadian Immigration Authority, We will refund all the tuition fees to the applicant’s designated account.)

Step 6: Apply for Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit
You can now apply for your Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit at the appropriate Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in your country. Since the processing time will vary, it is advisable to apply as soon as possible. Here are the main requirements for your Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit:
– Completed Application for a Study Permit
– Proof of Acceptance by the School (This is the original Letter of Admission issued by Alathena International Academy)
– Proof of  your Identity (A valid passport and four additional passport-sized photos)
– Proof of Financial Support and funds (You must be able to prove that you will be able to support yourself financially while you are in Canada)
– A medical evaluation as required by regulations for certain countries.
– Please obtain exact details regarding Temporary Resident Visas and Study Permits from the nearest Canadian High Commission.

Step 7: Planning your move to Canada
– After you receive your Temporary Resident Visa and a Study Permit, you can plan your move to Canada. You should inform the school the details of your arrival in Canada and  our student services coordinators at Alathena International Academy will  be pleased to assist your move to Canada.

Step 8: At your arrival in Canada
– Please note that you have to satisfy immigration officers when you enter Canada. You must:
– Satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada once you complete your studies.
– Have been accepted by True North Institute International
– Prove that you have enough money during your stay in Canada to pay for tuition fees, living expenses for yourself and accompanying family members, and return transportation for yourself and accompanying family members.

Step 9: Welcome to Canada!
If you request airport pickup service, a representative of True North Institute International will be at the Airport to greet you and assist you. You will then come to the School and start your semester.

Getting Student Visa

After receipt of your tuition fees we will send you the official Letter of Admission and a tuition fee receipt. These will be needed to apply for the Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit at the Canadian High Commission or consulate in your home country. Since the processing time will vary, it is advisable to apply as soon as possible. Here are the main requirements for your Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit:

  1. Completed Application for a Study Permit

  2. Proof of Acceptance by the School (This is the original Letter of Admission issued by True North Institute International)

  3. Proof of your Identity (A valid passport and four additional passport-sized photos)

  4. Proof of Financial Support and funds (You must be able to prove that you will be able to support yourself financially while you are in Canada)

  5. A letter of explanation

  6. A medical evaluation as required by regulations for certain countries.

 

In addition to above documents, you may have to provide other information when you apply for a study permit. Check the website of the visa office responsible for your country or region for local requirements.

Accommodation

Accommodation may be arranged either in the homestay program or residence program. Participation in the homestay program will enhance your English language communication as you will practice the English you have learned. You will also be able to make new friendships with Canadian families. True North Institute International has carefully selected families in the homestay program.

Single Room Home Stay

Student stays with a Canadian family and will have a private room with a bed, desk, dresser and a lamp.


All meals (3 meals per day, 7 days per week) will be provided by the homestay family.

Residence Accommodation

For students who would like to be more independent.


Should be booked at least 2-3 months in advance.


Offered for a minimum of 4 weeks. (except for packages)

If a student requests an airport pickup service, a representative of True North Institute International will greet, assist and pick up you at the airport. Our staff member will meet the students at the baggage claim and drive them directly to the student’s homestay or residence.

Fees can be paid by the following methods:

  1. Cash

  2. Cheque - Payable to "Brimley Alathena Ltd."

  3. E-transfer to brimley@alathena.com

  4. Alipay - Add 2% transaction fee

  5. Debit/Credit Card - Add 3% transaction fee


A processing fee of $50 will be charged for any NSF cheque or declined credit card authorization.

University Placement Counseling

University Placement Counseling

True North Institute International will assist students selecting a most appropriate university and program to meet their needs. Our teachers work hard and will ensure that our student take all prerequisite courses required for them to get admitted to the program and university of their choice.

Students at True North Institute International can apply to their preferred program and University online.

True North Institute International is registered with the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) so that students can send their university application on line through the OUAC website. Students will get a login in to the OUAC through True North Institute International and continually track the status of their application through OUAC to the universities to which they applied to.
